Quarter 4: Opera and the Xylophone

 

Quarter 4 Music class is focused on opera in the first half and the xylophone in the second half. For the first four weeks we will be discussing the components of opera, exploring the differences between Classical and Romantic opera, and watching the opera Turandot by Giacomo Puccini. The last five weeks are dedicated to learning to play the xylophone using Orff instruments--smaller wooden and metal keyboard instruments with removable bars to facilitate progressively difficult music playing.
